The philosophy behind the Lyn app family

We get asked why we're building four different apps instead of one do-everything platform. The short answer: because a finance tracker and a trade journal and a download manager have almost nothing in common except the principle we refuse to compromise on.

Every Lyn app follows the same three rules. Your data lives on your device first. Any sync or cloud feature is opt-in, never a requirement to use the core app. And the app keeps working if WinterShogun Tech goes quiet for a year — no phone-home licence check, no server dependency for basic function.

That's a harder way to build software than 'ship an API and a thin client.' It means more work per app, slower feature velocity, and no recurring subscription revenue from data hosting. We think it's worth it. If you've ever lost access to years of your own notes because a company pivoted, you probably agree.
