About WinterShogun Tech

WinterShogun Tech is an independent studio building private, offline-first desktop software — the Lyn family of apps, starting with Lyncost — and writing about the things that inform that work: Japanese design principles, the tech we actually use, and the games and Linux distros we spend our free time on.

The name comes from the brand mark: a samurai helmet (kabuto) with a snowflake cut into the dome. Winter for restraint and quiet; shogun for craft taken seriously.
