Wabi-sabi in software design

Wabi-sabi is usually translated as 'beauty in imperfection', which undersells it. It's closer to an acceptance that nothing finished, permanent, or perfect was ever the point.

A cracked tea bowl repaired with gold lacquer (kintsugi) is more valued than an unbroken one — the repair is part of its history, not a flaw to hide.

We think about this when we ship software. A changelog with honest fixes is more trustworthy than a landing page that claims nothing ever goes wrong.
