Source-available vs. open source: why we say what we mean

'Open source' is a licence category with real legal weight — OSI-approved terms that let anyone fork, relicense, and redistribute commercially. Most apps that say 'open source' in their marketing don't mean that.

We publish source for transparency: you can read exactly what Lyncost does with your data, and verify our privacy claims yourself. That's 'source-available'. It's not the same promise as a permissive open-source licence, and we'd rather say the accurate thing than the trendy thing.
